IV League of Occupational Therapists provides assessment and intervention services on behalf of clients who are injured in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), often through the client’s legal representative, or their insurance adjuster.
Assessment Services:
Intervention Services:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will make contact with the legal representative or insurance adjuster to coordinate the initial assessment. This initial assessment can be conducted at home, in hospital or at the workplace, as appropriate.
The OT will assess the client to determine what intervention services are required for rehabilitation support, such as Personal Support Worker, Assistive Devices and/or Attendant Care.
The OT will follow the client along their recovery process and continue to work on the client’s behalf, coordinating and discontinuing support services and helping restore the client to their optimal level of function based on their post-injury capabilities.
Occupational Therapists travel to client’s home and workplace. When possible, multiple appointments are arranged on the same day, in the same location, to reduce travel time and expense to the referrer. Services are available throughout Ontario. Counseling appointments are also available in the office.
Preparation of detailed reports outlining assessment findings and related recommendations ensures a comprehensive overview of each case. Reports are prepared in accordance to time guidelines requested by the referrer and standards established by the College of O.T. of Ontario.
